Physicians Get Web-Savvy

Internet market research studies often characterize physicians as resistant to online opportunities for communicating with patients and consumers.

But this attitude is changing. Increasingly physicians are launching Web sites to promote their practices and looking for marketing tools to expand their online presence.

To meet this demand, Salu.net, an online physician marketing firm with more than 18,000 registered physician members, recently launched The Practice Promoter, a suite of
Internet tools. The tools allow physicians, particularly those in specialty areas, to make their practices more visible and patient-friendly.

The suite of tools offered in the Physician Promoter include these features:

  • registration among 100 major search engines that is updated weekly;
  • Web site designs that are consistent with the physician practice's business cards and letterhead;
  • instructions for practices to create listings and display ads for newspapers, Yellow Page directories and sponsorship opportunities;
  • press release templates; and
  • patient feedback software that allows physicians to monitor patient concerns and inquiries.

HPRMN's cover story offers additional strategies for promoting physician practices.
