This month, Healthcare PR & Marketing News, a leading industry newsletter for communicators, announced the winners of its annual Best PR, Integrated and Marketing Campaigns of 1998.
Best PR: Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital's "Partners in Health Technology" campaign. This collaborative effort leveraged the hospital's cutting edge medical capabilities for a newly expanded regional heart center with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and its medical spin-off technologies.
Best Marketing: University Health System's "NurseLink" promotion won for its ability to increase calls to the NurseLink hotline by more than 50 percent and boost revenues in excess of 280 percent of its 1998 goal.
Best Integrated: Lamda Medical Group's "Introductory" campaign for its sophisticated strategies in promoting a new clinic for the Los Angeles gay and lesbian community. The campaign used extensive market research to identify how to best reach this underserved community and developed strategies for building brand awareness and significant media coverage. In its first year, the clinic is expected to see 1,800 patients, which is 300 more than initially anticipated.
Honorable mentions go to Los Angeles-based Fischer & Partners "Duet" diabetes campaign for LXN Corp. and Helix Health Womens Services' "Free Doula Program for a Year" program in Baltimore Md. This program strengthened awareness of Helix's birthing services by providing mother's advocates or "doulas" for a year at no charge.
