  • Mary Welch is named VP and PR manager for Bank of America Mid-South (Ga./Tenn.) and for its national small business group. She was staff writer for
    BioWorld Today, a daily biotechnology newspaper.
  • EarthLink hires Claudia Caplan as VP of brand marketing, a newly created position. She will help oversee the company's branding and related initiatives.
  • Sean S. Clancy becomes VP of communications at Flowserve Corp., leaving Union Carbide's corporate communications director position.
  • Internet content provider Visual Data Corp. hires Lanie Hoff away from Verizon Wireless to become director of public relations.
  • Organic Inc. appoints Andrew Hayman as chief relationship officer, responsible for client service programs and best practice communications.
  • Jeannette M. Boccini becomes director of corporate communications at real estate investment banking firm Sonnenblick-Goldman Co., leaving her position as
    communications director at Douglas Elliman. She is responsible for all corporate communications and marketing, as well as PR for the firm's seven offices worldwide.
  • CareScience Inc., an online clinical care management company, names Cindy Ryan, previously with Aetna U.S. Healthcare, as VP of marketing, to
    spearhead the company's marketing plan, brand positioning and communications activities.
  • John Chomeau joins Powersim, which provides business simulations to Fortune 500 companies, as VP of marketing and communications. He previously held a
    comparable position with Govt.com.
  • CheckOut.com, which develops, maintains and markets online entertainment destinations, promotes Ann Garrett to VP of corporate communications. She handles PR
    branding and internal communications, among other responsibilities.
  • Eric Liu becomes VP of corporate communications at Internet media delivery company RealNetworks, leaving behind the White House and his job as deputy
    domestic policy advisor. He takes on responsibility for media and analyst relations, tradeshow and event marketing, and speeches.
  • David Tolliver is promoted to senior VP at Daniels & Associates, an M&A specialist in the media, Internet and telecom industries.
  • Solectron Corp. hires Kevin Whalen, formerly with Shandwick International, as VP, corporate communications.
  • Kim Shanley has been promoted to VP of corporate communications at Ditech Communications Corp., where she will oversee the company's PR, advertising,
    Internet presence and Web site, and support its investor relations program.
  • Internet infrastructure provider Software.com appoints Laura McCormick as director of corporate communications, responsible for developing and
    directing worldwide PR and internal communications programs.

  • Francis L. Onofrio, APR, is named president of Mason & Madison
    Public Relations
    . The position is new for the agency, a subsidiary of
    Mason & Madison Inc.
  • Publicis Dialog Chicago signs Madonna Walsh, formerly a VP
    at Edelman PR Worldwide, as principal/group management director of
    the firm's consumer group.
  • David Melancon becomes managing director and office head of Ogilvy
    Public Relations Worldwide's
    new Denver office. Before the appointment,
    Melancon was chief marketing officer at netLibrary.
  • Swanson Russell Associates selects Tracy Stanko as VP. She
    previously worked for Oriental Trading Co. in Omaha, Neb.
  • B2BWorks creates two new directorships, for PR and marketing communications,
    and hires Stacey R. Reineking and Andrew C. Martin to fill them.
    Reineking comes from Slack Barshinger & Partners, while Martin
    moves from Lord Corp.
  • The Houston office of Shandwick International welcomes Yvonne
    Donaldson
    as VP, to lead the agency's technology practice group and grow
    the firm's southwest hub. In Boston, Miller/Shandwick Technologies
    adds Lars Carlson as senior counsel for tech public affairs. And in
    Washington, D.C., SWR Worldwide, part of Shandwick Washington
    names Kevin Schulman VP and senior analyst, to work with corporate
    and association clients.
  • Bock Communications Inc. appoints William L. Prichard, formerly
    with FBC/Creative works, as VP. He handles daily management of all
    staff and client services, including media relations, branding and other strategic
    counseling.
  • Ketchum signs David Rockland as senior VP and global director
    of the recently created Ketchum Reputation Laboratory, which explores the
    connections between corporate reputation and business performance.
  • Dan Klores Associates Inc. hires former Burson-Marsteller director/VP
    Jon Stern as EVP in the Media/Business/Sports Group.
  • Veteran journalist Joe Kilsheimer is now technical division manager
    for CBR Public Relations. Before the move, Kilsheimer covered business
    and technology for 20 years.
  • Steven Haden has rejoined Hill and Knowlton as a senior managing
    director, adding to the agency's capabilities in b-to-b and b-to-c communications
    as well as Internet and technology disciplines. He left H&K in the early
    '90s and co-founded The Columbus Group, a marketing communications,
    PR and management consulting firm.
  • KCSA Public Relations Worldwide hires David Sasso as managing
    director and Christine Scandia Stone as VP. Both have extensive experience
    in IR and corporate communications.
  • Porter Novelli, New York promotes Suzanne Gabriel to EVP and
    head of the NY healthcare practice, replacing the departed Phil Sheldon,
    while Katie Loughlin rises to VP. The agency's D.C. office promotes
