Overheard

Massive forests were felled within the last week to report the
guilty verdict in the Martha Stewart saga. With stories covering
every conceivable angle of the case -- ranging from how much time
Stewart may spend in prison to what happens now to Martha Stewart
Living Omnimedia -- we thought Allan Sloan, of Newsweek, had one of
the most pressing comments on how the Stewart case could affect PR
execs:

"Had Stewart kept her mouth shut, she'd be OK. In this litigious
world, far too many CEOs already listen to lawyers, whose advice is
almost always to say nothing. That argument is now more convincing
than ever, thanks to the Stewart case, and the flow of information
to the public will suffer because of it."

(March 15 issue) titled, "She's a Criminal? Give me a Break."
