Younger Edelman Promoted

Richard Edelman, president and co-CEO of Edelman Public Relations Worldwide, Chicago/New York, was promoted to president and CEO of the firm. Edelman's father and the firm's founder, Daniel Edelman, remains chairman, but drops his co-CEO title.

In other Edelman news, Leslie Dach, general manager of the Washington, D.C., office, was promoted to senior executive vice president and vice chairman of the agency. He will continue to manage the Washington office. (Edelman, 212/768-0550)

Porter/Novelli

(P/N) hired Barbara Parsky as general manager of its Los Angeles office. She previously headed Burson-Marsteller's office there.

Porter/Novelli's former Los Angeles general manager, Jerry Swerling, left the firm several months ago and now is operating as an independent PR consultant.

Hitchcock Retires in Akron

R. Cyrus Hitchcock, chairman of Akron ad/PR agency Hitchcock Fleming & Associates Inc., will retire from the firm on Jan. 1, 1997.
