As the holiday shopping season kicks into high gear, consumers will be combing their local newspapers for high-end consumer electronic products like VCRs, DVDs and -- natch --
hand-held camcorders (everybody is a director these days). PR NEWS asked Delahaye Medialink to track the newspapers with the biggest concentration of readers who are planning to
buy one of said electronics in the next 12 months. The top spot goes to the Pennysaver in Los Angeles; The New York Daily News had the second highest number of readers planning to
buy movie-related electronic gear. That's not much of a stretch, considering that New York is one of the biggest hubs of consumer culture. Once you get past the major markets, the
level of buyers, vis-a-vis newspapers, goes way down.
