Media Metrics

When it comes to Beantown, the term "Big Dig" can be defined in more ways than one. The more obvious definition is the 14-year-old (and $14 billion) mega construction project
designed to improve the roadways within (and without) the city of Boston (slated for completion early next year, barring more delays). However, for PR pros looking for media
vehicles in computer publishing, the "Big Dig" also could mean taking the time to build stronger relationships with marketing representatives from IDG Corp., the B2B/gaming
publisher that for years has been a Boston mainstay. IDG's Computerworld and InfoWorld are among some of the most widely circulated computer titles in the market
(see chart), part of an enormous portfolio of products that also includes CIO, PCWorld and Bio-IT World. But as with any list featuring IDG magazine
titles, its two main publishing rivals are nearby, in this case CMP Media's InformationWeek, which tops this week's class of computer titles, and Ziff Davis
Media
's eWeek.
