Now, even television is seeing "dot-com" crossover. CNET's new Internet technology show, CNET News.com, kicks off at 4 p.m. EST on CNBC Oct. 2. The show will feature veteran techie journalists Richard Hart (CNET Central) and Gina Smith, former technology correspondent for ABC News. The new program, which constitutes CNET's sixth technology-related television series, will air on Saturdays and Sundays.

Format

The show covers technology stocks that affect the Internet and its various industries. Content builds upon the www.news.com Web site - particularly topics relating to computer trends and e-commerce. Target viewers include those interested in business information about the Internet and anyone who visits the site.

The show is positioned as a competitor to Fox's "thestreet.com" and will feature movers and shakers affecting the industry.

Background

Gina Smith relocates to San Francisco to co-host the show. She leaves a technology correspondent gig in New York, where she covered tech news, trends and analysis for various ABC broadcasts. She will continue to cover the industry in her syndicated columns, "The Help File" and "Inside Silicon Valley."

Fellow co-hosts Richard Hart and Hari Sreenivasan are CNET veterans.

Pitch Methods

Contact Jackie Markin, the show's producer, with pitches about the Internet economy. Pitch an analyst or expert for the business show, and you'll be in the running for red carpet treatment. Send email to [email protected] or call 415/364-8301.

Comments

"If [PR professionals] have an expert or CEO who can talk to this industry, they should definitely call us to get on the show," says CNET spokesperson Maureen Pelisson.
