"Financial Finesse with Liz Davidson" is a new radio show airing on San Francisco's Business Radio 1220-KBZS. The show's premise originated when financial expert Liz Davidson saw very few women attending the industry conferences where she spoke about finances. Davidson feared that women weren't getting the financial information they needed, and she became obsessed with providing that information. In December 1998, she founded Financial Finesse and started conducting monthly seminars for women in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

After realizing months of growth on the seminar circuit, Davidson was approached by KBZS Business Radio. The show launched late last month and a complementary Web site, www.financialfinesse.com, is launching Wednesday.

Financial Finesse airs in San Francisco on Wednesdays, from 12 - 1 p.m. The Silicon Valley business radio station reaches more than five million people.

Demographics

The show targets "upwardly mobile women" ranging in age from 20's to 50's, including career women and stay-at-home moms. According to Davidson, Business Radio 1220-KBZS listeners are 68 percent more likely to have an income of $100,000+, 59 percent more likely to possess a graduate degree, 43 percent more likely to have assets exceeding $250,000, 29 percent more likely to have purchased a new computer in the last 12 months, and 71 percent more likely to have used a brokerage firm in the last 12 months.

Show Content

Davidson aims to present financial information in a way that's fun, relevant and highly compelling - and, most importantly, not boring. Topics are centered around issues women care about most, such as teaching children about money, achieving financial security without a lot of sacrifice, and giving back to the community.

The show also gives women information to help them feel secure about making investment decisions, without bombarding themwith overwhelming gobs of information.

Segments include "Giving Back," "Women with Financial Finesse" and "Teaching Your Children about Money."

Perfect Pitch

Davidson looks for tips that don't take a lot of time or money, but can make a big difference to listeners' financial situations.

She also wants to know about female-oriented non-profits or women who have managed to achieve financial security and independence in their own lives. Personalities of interest include community leaders, business and media figures, and athletes. Highly successful financial planners are welcome - particularly those willing to offer on-air consultations with clients. This allows listeners to learn tips on how to manage their own finances.

Davidson prefers email pitches to [email protected].

Comments

The Financial Finesse Web site kicks off this week at the Groundbreaker Awards, a charity benefit established to support non-profit organizations that help women become financially self-sufficient.

Following the launch, users will be able to register online for Financial Finesse seminars in 13 different cities.
