The food/beverage/tobacco industries rank first among 15 industries when it comes to measuring the generosity of severance benefits.
While this might not be the most ideal starting point to initiate dialogue with employees, it can provide you with a way of highlighting your company's caring side in this era of downsizing and rightsizing.
The research was based on a nationwide survey of nearly 2,000 human resource executives by Lee Hecht Harrison, a global outplacement and career services firm in Washington, D.C.
