Managed Care Snapshots

A California legislation proposal snaking its way through state legislation could cost the state $11 billion a year and eliminate 240,000 jobs, according to a new study by Spectrum Economics (Sacramento, Calif.) that involved 11 anti-HMO bills. The study projected:

  • 200,000 to 430,000 employees could lose their medical coverage
  • Managed care will reduce California's healthcare costs by $40 billion during the 1990s.
