Innovation as Competitive Edge

A new research program to identify leading-edge innovations and the individuals and companies making them will track emerging companies, their business models and their growth. "The Contenders:
Emerging Services Innovators," from IDC, will look for for companies going through extraordinary growth, but that also demonstrate the real potential to generate revenues - not startups, says program
manager Alister Sutherland. "Innovation can be a relatively small thing, but it can have a significant impact," Sutherland says. "It's something that drives customers to them and away from competitors."
He says that IDC will use 80 to 100 analysts, each with their own market niches, to do original research and identify upcoming innovations.
