H&R Block Gets It Right With Compelling Web Site Features

Not all Web sites can have the bells and whistles that the H&R Block Get It Right tax Q&A site has, but you can think about incorporating some of the site’s features into your organization’s site, says Bob Meiers of Miller Meiers Design for Communications, which led the work on the site. Here are three features that might make sense for you:

Make social media platforms accessible. Twitter, Facebook, iGoogle and YouTube communities are easily accessed throughout the GIR site. In fact, a Facebook page link is accessible from every page.

Feature—and rate—Q&As. The GIR home page features compelling question/answer combination to draw traffic to the site. In addition, answers to questions are anonymously rated thumbs up/thumbs down by site visitors.

Include blogs. H&R Block site managers blog on lifestyle and tax-related topics. GIR community members can post comments against the blog, increasing interaction throughout the site.
