Healthy and Wise

Four organizations were recognized for their wellness programs that improve employee health while reducing employee healthcare costs. The Health Project named Caterpillar,
CIGNA Corp., DailmerChrysler/UAW and Fannie Mae winners of the ninth annual C. Everett Koop National Health Award.

"The effort to reduce America's $1 trillion healthcare bill must shift its focus from limiting services to empowering the individual and personal accountability," said Koop in
a release.

The Koop Awards recognize the contribution made by organizations that promote healthy behaviors and educate participants in the effort to design programs that support health
needs while containing costs by reducing demand, he added.

The four programs feature free health screenings, health-risk assessments, and immunization inoculations, as well as education for employees to become smarter health care
consumers. All the winning programs have reduced health care costs. (Kurt Patat, Fine Light PR, 212/218-8023)
