Health Plan Measures Patients’ Satisfaction with Maternity Care

Kaiser Permanente recently learned that when it comes to maternity care, female patients are most impressed with the skill, experience and training of its healthcare professionals. The integrated healthcare organization surveyed more than 1,000 female patients to gauge their satisfaction with the maternity care services they received.

The survey found that 85% of patients were satisfied with the clinical skills of their healthcare professionals while 50% were very or somewhat satisfied with their options like availability of times for office visits.

The survey, published in the November issue of the American Journal of Managed Care, measured satisfaction with the access, availability and convenience of maternity care and is being used to help medical groups make targeted improvements in care.
