PR People Awards Shines Spotlight on the Year’s Top PR Pros

It's usually the brands and products that get the coverage and attention, while the tireless, creative communications professionals remain out of the limelight, planning their next projects. However, every year, with its PR People Awards, PR News gives credit where it's due and puts the focus on the PR professionals behind the year's most successful communications initiatives.

This year's PR People Awards will honor the year's top communicators as well as the People to Watch (rising stars of PR age 30 and under) at a Nov. 29 luncheon event at Washington D.C.'s National Press Club. PR News will also celebrate this year’s Top Places to Work in PR at the luncheon.

The PR People Awards recognize top communicators in more than 22 categories, ranging from Account Director of the Year and Crisis Manager of the Year to Measurement Expert of the Year and Social Media Professional of the Year. Communicators from organizations such as Nikon, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, MWW, Weber Shandwick, Waggener Edstrom, Henson Consulting, NASCAR and Cisco. The People to Watch awards celebrate 34 rising stars of PR—communicators who stand poised to help lead PR in the agency, corporate and nonprofit sectors.

Alyse Nelson, who was featured in Newsweek as one of "150 Women Shaking the World" in 2011 and is the author of Vital Voices: The Power of Women Leading Change Around the World, will give the keynote address, "Women as a Global Leadership Force." Emceeing the PR People Awards luncheon will be comedian and filmmaker Maija DiGiorgio. The co-founder of the Hollywood Outlaws comedy network, DiGiorgio has appeared on Showtime at the Apollo, Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam, Sex and the City, Off-Broadway in her one-woman show Rats! and at top comedy nightclubs in New York, Los Angeles, Boston and beyond.
