Co-Winner: Entergy Corporation – Low Income Customer Assistance Progress Report
The annual progress report for Entergy Corporation’s Low Income Customer Assistance Program delineates the company’s strides in providing assistance for low-income households that face a far more severe economic strain from energy costs than higher-income households. It has several target audiences in mind, including employees and retirees, low-income advocates, service organizations and legislative groups in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The 2010 report focuses on Entergy’s work in 2009 when it identified, set and achieved measurable program goals. These included providing payment assistance for energy bills, weatherizing homes, distribution of basic necessities such as fluorescent light bulbs and air-conditioning units, and even building homes through employee volunteer labor. —SP
