Editorial: What's coming at COMDEX. The October issue will share news on storage technologies, new products that will be announced and other COMDEX related news. Computer Technology Review generally covers new and emerging technologies across the entire spectrum of computer systems technology, both hardware and software.

Family Safety and Health
Editorial: Steps that can help you survive a natural disaster. The winter issue will focus on how to prepare and survive in the event of a disaster. Information on how to prepare for special types of disasters, rain, snow, power loss etc as well as steps to take if disaster strikes, for example, how to avoid injury if trapped.
Deadline: As soon as possible for consideration, but up until September 27.
Background: 600,000 readers. Published by the National Safety Council, the magazine is dedicated to the prevention of off-the-job injuries and the promotion of health and fitness.

Health Care Human Resources Alert
Editorial: "Recruiting Qualified Healthcare professionals through on-line resources" is the working title for this feature. Information on how to use the Internet and recruiting sites is welcome. The goal is to provide the readers with information beyond the standard career sites and share information on resources that focus on the healthcare industry. Include any special tactics or resources that have helped identify and find qualified candidates.
Deadline: All information must be submitted by September 30 to be considered.
Background: This monthly publication was created exclusively for healthcare human resources professionals within the hospital. The newsletter provides up-to-date information on government regulations, JCAHO standards, compliance, and credentialing.

Background: 250,000 readers. This quarterly publication takes readers behind the technology to see how the world we live in got the way it is.

Popular Science
Editorial: New Products or any new use of existing products. News information should focus products that flow from technology and share how those products are used in our lives as well explain the technology in lay terms. For new products submit, a color photograph, transparency, or slide -unsolicited materials will not be returned. Note any significant dates such as when product will be available to the public or date when product was first sold if available. Also include a description of the product's unique features and how the product works as well as prices.
Deadline: For the January 2000 issue, all items must be submitted by October 1.
Background: With over 1,550,000 readers, Popular Science is the largest science and technology magazine, and the 3rd largest monthly men's magazine.

Editorial: Rationing and the cost-effectiveness of Healthcare is one upcoming theme in Sciences. Essays and comment, feature articles, and reviews both rigorous enough to engross the scientist and yet broad enough to engage the curious general reader in which scientists reflect on their own work and exchange points of view are encouraged on this subject.
Deadline: September 1
Background: Published bi-monthly by the New York Academy of Sciences this publication is read by 80,000 readers. Sciences Academy members account for 56% of the readers, 29% are nonmember subscribers, and the remaining 15% buy The Sciences on the newsstand.

Background: This publication was recently re-launched and has a circulation of 100,000 readers. The mission is to deliver by being a strategic source of information for senior information technology managers with enterprise software purchase authority.

Sporting Goods Business
Editorial: A "State of the Market" report will highlight all of the categories of the sporting goods industry from licensing (including NFL brand products) to general sporting goods. The market report will appear in the November, 1999 issue.
An additional feature on Eyewear with a the "best and worse" rating plus a fashion report on the new line of NFL licensed apparel will appear in the December, 1999 issue.
Any news about sporting products and licensed goods are welcome for the market report. Samples of eyewear and NFL licensed apparel should be submitted to be considered for the fashion report. Please include slicks, photos or jpeg files of your merchandise.
