That recently resigned White House spokesman Ari Fleischer had a speech disorder as a child? Fleischer, who started his own communications firm after leaving the Bush
adminstration, shared his story with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, which represents more than 110,000 speech-language pathologists and audiologists nationwide.
Following is an excerpt from an interview with the ASHA -- and sound advice for PR managers who work closely with the company chieftains:

"My job is to speak for the president. It requires a lot of homework, a lot of substantive learning. I spend a lot of time with the president, listening to the president, and
then I have to rely on my judgment to go out and say the right things and not say things that shouldn't be said."
