Citizens Against Government Waste just released its special investigative report on fraud in the $212 billion-a-year Medicare program outlining 67 examples of how physicians, hospitals and other healthcare providers are abusing the system to the tune of $67 million a year. It also fired off key suggestions on preventing Medicare fraud that include:
- allowing Medicare beneficiaries to choose their own private health insurance plans;
- requiring health plans, physician groups and insurers to provide consumers with info. on the quality of care; and
