Hill & Knowlton has acquired Hype, an Atlanta-based marcom firm. No word yet on whether H&K next will be looking to acquire other firms with names like Spin, Puffery and Hyperbole* Creamer Dickson Basford has acquired CSP Communications Inc., a Southern California PR agency serving national and regional consumer, technology and B-to-B clients* Making a move south of the border, Maxxcom Inc., a full-service marcom firm in Toronto, is acquiring a majority interest in Atlanta-based Fletcher Martin Associates, an independent advertising and PR agency. Back north, Maxxcom acquired a majority interest in Allard and Associates to facilitate a merger between Allard and LBJ/FRB, a Maxxcom company. The move creates a 130-person integrated marketing communications agency that Maxxcom says will be one of the top five Canadian-controlled firms in Canada. The new organization will be named Allard Johnson Communications.
