Nearly One-Quarter of Web Sites Don't Have Contact Information

More than 20 percent of corporate Web sites don't include contact information, according to the results of a "Best Practices in Corporate Communications" annual study on how companies are using the Internet to communicate. That finding is based on analyses of 425 Web sites.

The Public Affairs Group, Inc., Washington, D.C., looked at several variables, including value and vision statements, histories and international information, in evaluating Web sites for corporations such as BellSouth, Chevron, Dell Computer, Exxon and US West, which did include this kind of information.

This is not news to journalists who frequently discover that this basic information has been overlooked. It sure sends a mixed PR message when your company is visible everywhere but apparently unreachable. (PAG, 202/466-8209)
