Catching Up

Here's a rundown of what some of last year's 15-to-Watch winners have been working on:

Ben Conrad, Senior Account Executive, Schwartz Communications
[email protected]

>>Conrad is still plugging away in the West Coast office of Schwartz Communications. He was promoted last year to SAE from Account Executive and is now working on
several new hardware and software accounts, the best known being Gateway.

Lise Harwin, Public Relations Specialist, Legacy Health System
[email protected]

>>In the past year, Harwin pitched a story about her father, Fred Harwin to the Portland Tribune that ended up getting a lot of exposure. Mr. Harwin is an ocularist -- a
person who makes artificial eyes for those who lose them due to trauma, disease, genetics, etc. The Tribune article caught the eye of local director Vance Malone of Food Chain
Films, who decided to make a short documentary. The film, aptly titled "Ocularist," has won awards from Sundance, SXSW and several other major film festivals.

Marc Hausman, President & CEO, Strategic Communications Group
[email protected]

>>Strategic recently announced annual agreements with WAM!NET Government Services, Microspace Communications, EFJ, Inc., and Americom Government Services, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of SES Americom. Hausman has become a regular guest columnist for Inc.com and Expert Magazine.

Susanna Homan, Group Supervisor, PR21
[email protected]

>>Homan continues to live a double life -- by day she's a group supervisor at PR21; by night, a social columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times. Last fall, her worlds collided
when PR21 helped the Sun-Times launch Red Streak, a daily edition of the Sun-Times targetting 18- to 34-year-olds. Homan now writes for both publications, and was just named one
of Chicago's ten "It Girls" by Today's Chicago Woman magazine.

Pierce Mattie, CEO of Pierce Mattie Public Relations (PMPR)
[email protected]

>>Mattie continues to grow his business, reporting a billing increase of 64% in 2002. He authored the best-selling book, "Groomed For Success" (Allured Publishing).
Released in June 2002, Groomed For Success continues to remain a staple for treating and selling to guys who go to spas.

Alyssa Royse, Co-founder and National Spokesperson, Twin Towers Orphan Fund
[email protected]

>>Having been thoroughly enriched by her work with Twin Towers Orphan Fund, Royse is now focusing her solo practice almost entirely on PR and Marketing consulting for
non-profit organizations in Seattle. She is also a regular contributor to most of the local newspapers and magazines in Seattle, which puts her in a unique position as a
consultant.

Fernando Vivanco, Director, Communications, Homeland Security & Services, The Boeing Company
[email protected]

>> Since June 2002, Vivanco has been director of communications for Boeing's newly created Homeland Security & Services business group. Last year he oversaw
communications efforts for Boeing's contract with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to screen 100 percent of checked baggage by Dec. 31, 2002 at all US airports.

Roslyn Whitehurst, Senior Account Executive, Benjamin Group, A Weber Shandwick Company
[email protected]

>>Whitehurst has been promoted to Senior Account Executive, and is now working on the firm's largest account, Toshiba. She continues to work with many tech clients,
including Conexant, Skyworks, Picolight and Sierra Monolithics.
