Calling All Surfers and Authors

PRSA's annual conference kicks off this Friday in Anaheim, CA with the theme "Surfing the Information Tidal Wave." This year's lineup promises strategies for harnessing and leveraging technology. Headline speakers include:

  • Gary Hamel, founder of the Harvard Business School and co-author of Competing for the Future.
  • Cherie Carter-Scott, Ph.D., author of If Life is a Game, These are the Rules.
  • Don Tapscott, author of Growing Up Digital: The Rise of the Net Generation.
  • Al Ries, author of The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding.

While last year's conference in Boston drew record attendance (2,240 registrants), PRSA COO Ray Gaulke expects the numbers to drop slightly this year due to the extra travel time required for many to reach the West Coast - although the upcoming event boasts registrants from as far away as Australia, Great Britain and Korea. If attendee demographics are anything like last year's, the event will see equal representation from PR firms, corporations and nonprofit organizations. (PRSA, 212/460-1400, www.prsa.org.)
