Angela Montefinise
Public Relations Director
New York Public Library

Angela Montefinise

Angela Montefinise joined the New York Public Library’s Public Relations Department in January 2010 after spending nearly a decade as a reporter and editor in the New York media. She began at the Queens Tribune, a community paper covering her home borough.  During her four-year tenure she rose from reporter to managing editor, then moved to the New York Post, one of the top 10 largest newspapers in the United States. Angela covered a variety of subjects at the paper,  including politics and education. She also wrote a blog about the Harry Potter phenomenon called “The Quibbler,” one of the most popular Post blogs. Since joining the Library, she has helped increase the institution’s presence on social media (it is now the most followed public library on both Facebook and Twitter), has written several articles for NYPL’s weekly Huffington Post column and has established and maintained the Library’s first public relations blog, NYPL Wire, on popular platform Tumblr. In less than two months the blog netted over 1,000 followers.  During her time as head of Public Relations the department won two PR News Non Profit PR Awards, one for use of Twitter, one for the Library’s advocacy campaign.
