Catherine Frymark, Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, Discovery Communications
Expertly leading the company’s powerful internal agency, Catherine spearheads communications efforts for Discovery’s full corporate portfolio, including Discovery Channel, TLC and Animal Planet. Catherine’s responsibilities are wide reaching and include financial communications, the company’s digital media, ad sales and distribution business units, as well as the company’s internal communications and corporate social responsibility functions. Catherine has been on the front lines of some of Discovery’s biggest announcements, such as the company’s recent acquisition of Olympic Games rights in Europe from 2018 to 2024, and continues to lead with ingenuity and poise.
During the past 12 months, Catherine oversaw the ideation and development of the communications strategy for carriage agreement negotiations with several of the company’s top distribution partners. Working to build tailored, multi-scenario strategies specific to each upcoming renewal, Catherine led her team in creating a robust company-wide communications plan to be used not only in the event of a carriage dispute, but also ultimately in the announcement of several successful new deals and renewals. These efforts all sought and succeeded to maximize the return on content investment and genre leadership across Discovery Communications’ 13 U.S. network brands.
