Scott Bisang joined Joele Frank in 2010 and was promoted to Director just 13 months later. Having quickly established himself as a leader with outstanding judgment in complex situations, he was promoted to Managing Director in January 2015.
Bisang provides clients with support in high-profile, high-stakes situations, including mergers and acquisitions, and shareholder activism/proxy fights. Whether advising C-suite executives or board members – or interacting with lawyers, bankers or the media – he provides thoughtful, strategic advice that has enabled him to become a trusted advisor to his clients.
Since 2011 Bisang has worked with Outerwall, a specialty retailer and owner of Redbox. He has become a trusted advisor to C-Suite management, including the CEO, CFO and General Counsel, and has worked closely with them to refine the company’s corporate messaging and investor thesis, as well as improve the company’s overall IR program. He led a team of three junior staff to conduct an in-depth qualitative survey of the company’s investors and analysts, and presented the findings to the board.
He also advised the company on a communications strategy to deal with pressure from activist investor JANA Partners. Over the past year, he advised the company on the unexpected departure of the CEO and several executives, as well as other issues, including the secular decline of its main revenue source (Redbox DVD kiosks).
