2013 PR People to Watch: Melissa Koski Carney

Melissa Koski Carney, Account Supervisor, Fahlgren Mortine

One of Melissa Koski Carney’s outstanding achievements over the past year was her work to develop and implement an integrated campaign for Donate Life Ohio. The objective of Donate Life Ohio is straightforward: to save lives. The coalition of the Buckeye State’s organ, eye and tissue recovery agencies is dedicated to educating Ohioans about the need for organ and tissue donation and motivating them to join the Ohio Donor Registry. The campaign for the program combined PR, media relations, social media, events, partnerships and advertising to achieve all objectives, increasing organ donor registration and generating more than 189 million impressions. The campaign also won numerous national awards, including the national Pinnacle Award for Donate Life America and an honorable mention in PR News’ Digital PR Awards. All in all, the campaign resulted in 267,280 new donors, which was an amazing 107 percent of the campaign goal.
