2013 PR People to Watch: Amy Wang


Amy Wang, Communications Specialist, Kaiser Permanente

In the past two years, Amy Wang has developed key PR skills, including storytelling, managing difficult clients and technical skills like shooting and editing video. Much of it is due to her willingness to take on a variety of projects, even if they are beyond her scope of work. She embraces any and all opportunities presented, seeing them as learning and growth opportunities.

Wang has been trusted with several highly visible and important media inquiries, including two Modern Healthcare stories involving the CEO and members of the board of directors. She handled those—and many others—with care and helped ensure the organization looked great.

She is a key player on the team that manages Kaiser Permanente’s award-winning Care Stories blog, an external-facing video blog in which happy Kaiser Permanente members share their health success stories, unscripted and uncompensated. Wang is the lead for conducting intake interviews with Kaiser Permanente members who have expressed an interest in sharing their stories on camera. The Care Stories blog is seeing an uptick in traffic and the videos have seen an increase in views.
