2012 Rising Stars of PR: James Kelly

James Kelly

Manager of Business Communications, NASCAR

James “Nick” Kelly is one of the driving forces behind strategic communications for NASCAR's automotive and licensing businesses, which are accountable for approximately $30 million in annual revenue. Kelly is also responsible for managing key communications initiatives around critical areas of the NASCAR enterprise including: sustainability, business-to-business marketing, public affairs, crisis communications, research and development, competition, NASCAR Hall of Fame and corporate giving.

In just under a year, Kelly transformed NASCAR's relationships with top automotive news organizations, led industry-wide marketing initiatives and product launches and helped reinvigorate the brand’s proactive storytelling. At a company that relies heavily on earned media to engage existing fans and reach new ones, Kelly has quickly established a reputation as a strategic communicator who can also build and execute upon fully integrated marketing communications plans that help drive tangible business results.
