Winner: Nebo—Choose ATL
The concept for Choose ATL was first sparked during a conversation between a group of digital marketers comparing Atlanta’s growth to the rise of Silicon Valley. Although Atlanta has the 11th largest economy in the world, is poised to have nearly half a million tech jobs by 2018 and is the most entrepreneur-friendly economy in the nation, people are largely unaware of the city’s potential.
Not only does Atlanta boast a thriving economy, but it is also a comfortable place to live. Atlanta has a beautiful urban landscape with 36 percent tree coverage—more than any other major city in the U.S. Nebo wanted to create a grassroots movement to help shine a light on Atlanta’s amazing story. No big ad budgets, shiny slogans or million-dollar theme songs—just a group of talented, passionate people who donated their time and effort because they wanted to see the city flourish.
Nebo led the way in forming a task force of key local influencers to tell the city’s untold story. They designed and built a website to serve as the hub of the campaign, which they kicked off with an official launch party at the Atlanta Tech Village. The media outreach program was crafted to help raise awareness of the campaign and launch event. Ongoing digital PR efforts alerted local journalists and influencers to Atlanta’s amazing story. Nebo secured more than 30 million impressions from earned media coverage, garnered more than 200 media placements and encouraged 10,000 views of the Choose ATL campaign video—all in a span of three months.
