Engagement matters, and the research has shown that employees who feel they have the opportunity to give back to their community are more engaged. Additionally, community-giving programs provide opportunities to help TD Ameritrade employees further develop as teams and leaders. In 2014, employees volunteered over 18,000 hours throughout the year by giving time to more than 200 projects and event in the communities in which they work and live.
Over the past seven years, TD Ameritrade employees have helped build 26 Habitat for Humanity homes across the country. What started with a single build has blossomed into eight builds across the country in 2014. The company also partners with Special Olympics across the United States. At state games from coast to coast and the National Games in New Jersey, more than 400 volunteers spent approximately 3,000 hours working with athletes and organizers.
