2014 Rising PR Stars: Kelsey Nason

Kelsey Nason, Account Supervisor, Hellerman Baretz Communications

Clients perceive Kelsey as a member of their team, and an irreplaceable part of their family. This is rare to find in a PR professional of any age, let alone someone under 30. In the past six months, Hellerman Baretz Communications has seen a lot of new business come in through Kelsey’s connections. On top of that, she mentors new employees, and at the firm retreat was dubbed “the heart and soul” of HBC.

She has worked with a relatively unknown blue-ship law firm, Richards Kibbe & Orbe, to generate exposure for its privacy lawyer Craig Newman. Kelsey secured op-eds for him in The Washington Post, and BusinessWeek. Working on behalf of Craig has materialized into the firm’s first data security client. She also played a key role in working with the company’s largest client to drive campaigns and work with their in-house team to execute PR initiatives for its biggest practice areas — litigation and real estate. Her work resulted in a 131 percent increase in media placements for litigation and a 98 percent increase for real estate compared to the firm’s previous fiscal year.
