Avoiding Graphic Gaffes

Would you rank dealing with print production problems in the same league with having a root canal? Joe La Valla, president of graphics communications company FoxIntegrity
Graphics, has put together a list of tips designed to help you get your orders printed correctly and on time:

1. Give the vendor a printout of the data disk. It eliminates guesswork about
which file to use and allows the vendor to catch errors up front.
2. Be honest about trouble spots, including problems with images or a late order.
3. Include your font with your order. If you have a customized font on your
computer, the vendor likely won't be able to match it.
4. Give accurate information about your order during the quoting process.
5. Give yourself time. The earlier you notify the vendor about a job the better.
6. Communicate with the vendor and work as a team. Thoroughly discuss your objectives
and potential problems.
7. Understand the graphics company's capabilities. Tour facilities and choose
a vendor who can best meet your needs.
8. Understand shipping options.
9. Grow with your vendor's technology.
10. Use the vendor as a consultant. Ask for advice on design and technology.
