Alexandra (Alex) Nicholson is vice president of New and Social Media at Cone Communications. Alex is responsible for keeping Cone staff and clients at the cutting edge of social and digital innovation, while implementing smart, results-driven, marketing/communications programs. Her decade of experience working for major media brands allows her to blend a traditional communications background with a deep understanding of new media strategy, activation and measurement. Her client roster includes General Mills, Nestle Waters, Sun Products and Keep America Beautiful.

Prior to Cone, Alex was social media strategist for USA TODAY, where she was responsible for increasing brand awareness, audience and revenue through digital communications effort and social media strategy. She functioned as a corporate spokesperson through various digital platforms and aided in development of corporate social media policy and training. Alex was responsible for multiple Facebook pages, supported USA TODAY's extensive Twitter efforts and helped build the brand's presence on location-based services. Alex also spent several years as a publicist for National Geographic providing media relations, event management and new media support to multiple divisions including: children's books, catalog and retail outlets, online music initiative, television programs, giant-screen films and music, food and film events.
