AFTER NEW YEAR’S, EVE LAUNCHES

Straight out of America's "biggest small town" of Buffalo, NY, Eve magazine will grace newsstands in and around Western New York this January, featuring some of the most inspiring and influential women the city of 1 million and its vicinity has to offer.

"We hope to get Ani DiFranco on the cover," says co-founder Susan Fenster, who started the publication with Cindy Vastola-Lancaster.

The editors are interested in pitches about women from Buffalo -- especially success stories about celebrities, businesswomen and other professionals or people making a difference, for the profile section. The premiere cover story profiles Emmy and Tony award-winning actress Christine Baranski.

Other information, such as health-related pitches or stories about women who own businesses, is most likely to get attention if it touches the Buffalo geographic region. Which means, according to Fenster, New York City doesn't cut it.

For now, emailed pitches to Fenster are preferred, to sfenster@ adelphia.net.

The magazine will start out quarterly, with plans to go monthly in 2001.

Fenster says she hopes to expand the Eve brand to other regions and has already had queries from two major cities.
