Advertising & PR: A Study

PR career tracks continue to spark the ambitions of college students, but fewer twenty-somethings are pursuing graduate level studies in the field. According to the latest directory by Advertising Education Publications, college grads with bachelor's degrees in advertising and PR will reach record levels this year (12,439), but the number of PR graduate students will decline sharply, by nearly 22% (852).

Advertising programs are expected to outpace PR programs and joint ad/PR programs across the board in 2000. This year, 5,454 students will graduate with ad majors - up 12.3% from last year. PR is expected yield 5,004 grads, up 3.4%. A total of 1,816 students will graduate with combined majors.

University of Florida holds the dominant position among undergraduate PR programs, matriculating 190 PR majors this year.
