"Librarians living on the wild side ... " We know, it sounds like the teaser for a particularly misguided episode of "Jerry Springer." After all, librarians get their thrills
busting late book offenders and rowdy library patrons, right? Wrong.

According to The Shy Librarian, a new quarterly publication focused on PR and marketing for libraries, bookworms are anything but shy. Shy Librarian makes its
debut in January with a mission to "maximize the promotion of libraries, librarianship and the librarian." The total package includes the quarterly pub, a free e-newsletter and
the Web site, with sample library mission statements, news on library grand openings, book reviews, discussion groups ... and the ever-popular Un-Shy Photo Gallery.

Judging by the photos we found in the gallery, it seems the quiet ones really do bear watching. For more information, call publisher Joseph Cadieux at 860/521-4182. Just
don't speak above a whisper.
