Erica Sackin has been working in political communications for more than a decade. She currently is the director of political communications for Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund, where she acts as a spokeswoman and oversees the organization's political and advocacy communications and media work.
Prior to joining Planned Parenthood, Erica worked as the communications director at Battleground Texas during Wendy Davis’ 2014 Gubernatorial campaign, and as the senior director of communications for the Mozilla Foundation. In 2012 Erica was the lead for digital and progressive media outreach for President Obama’s re-election campaign, where she helped organize the first Reddit "Ask Me Anything" for a sitting president. Prior to that, Erica served her first foray with the Planned Parenthood family, working as the communications director for Planned Parenthood of New York City.
Erica has been named one of the 50 hottest people in online politics by Business Insider, and one Muse's 10 women shaping the future of politics. Erica is also a freelance writer, with pieces on politics, culture and humor appearing in a number of publications including TheAwl.com, The Los Angeles Times, Metro NY, Brooklyn Paper, Radar and the Australian magazine CLEO.
